We are committed to laying the foundation for a bright future for your little one. Through a nurturing environment, we implement The Curriculum for Wales, which enables us to foster the development of well-rounded, empowered children.

Personal, Social, Well-being and Cultural Diversity

In this area, we focus on helping children grow their self-esteem, moral values, and personal beliefs. We guide them in understanding themselves, their relationships, and the people around them, emphasising that everyone has different needs, abilities, beliefs, and views.

We encourage positive attitudes to help children appreciate the diversity of cultures and languages in Wales. Over time, they become increasingly aware of the traditions and celebrations that are meaningful in Welsh culture.

Our goal is to support children in becoming confident and independent thinkers and learners. As they develop their self-identity, they learn to express their feelings and empathise with others. It's a journey of growth and discovery for each child.

Language, Literacy and Communication Skills

Through this area of learning, children are fully immersed in language experiences and engaging activities, refining their communication skills through speaking, signing, and attentive listening. We actively encourage them to express their needs, emotions, and thoughts, fostering an environment where questions are welcomed, and conversations are embraced.

Our little learners are provided with opportunities to select reading materials, whilst also enjoying experiences that involve mark-making and writing. We guide them in developing an understanding of Wales as a country with two languages, promoting positive attitudes towards speakers of languages other than Welsh and English. Importantly, the language skills acquired in one language serve as a strong foundation for the development of knowledge and skills in another language.

Physical Development

At The Learning Tree, we foster children's physical development through a combination of indoor and outdoor activities. We encourage them to find joy in physical activity, linking their evolving self-image, self-esteem, and confidence with their movements.

Our approach includes teaching them about the significance of exercise, rest, and maintaining a healthy diet.

Mathematical Development

Through this area of learning, we focus on hands-on, practical play work alongside oral exercises to enhance our children's understanding of Maths. We delve into real-life scenarios to provide children with a basic mathematical understanding to start exploring numbers.

We encourage children to develop a range of flexible methods for working mentally with numbers, encouraging them to solve problems by communicating their ideas and asking questions. Both indoors and outdoors, they engage in exploration, estimation, and problem-solving, learning through activities such as sorting, matching, and comparing, as well as creating simple patterns and relationships.
